A nollie varial heelflip is a nollie backside pop shuvit with a heelflp. They can be done like varial heelflips in nollie stance but you can also do them with a specific technique, this is what this article is about. This alternative method is better when it comes to do nollie variations such as nollie bigspin heelflip and nollie laser flip.

Feet placement:
-the ball of the front foot is on the heelside of the nose, very close to the edge, this foot is almost pointing forward (in the direction you are heading to).
-the back foot is close to the middle of the board, the toes are hanging off the toe side but the ball of the foot isn't, it applies pressure on the toe side using the concave (this helps for the heelflip).
How to do the trick:
1/ apply pressure with both feet, then pop hard (but not too much) with your front foot, remember to apply pressure on the heelside of the nose, you don't need much scoop, the feet placement will induce the varial and the heelflip almost automatically.
2/ jump and let the board heelflip against your back foot, because of the back foot placement the board will do a heelflip even if you don't flick much, slightly pushing down with the back foot should be enough.
3/ let the board spin and flip, the land as you would for a nollie bs pop shuvit.
Tips:
-with this technique the feet placement does everything, think about a nollie bs 90° pop shuvit with this weird start position and let the board do the heelflip on it's own because of the back foot's pressure.
-it helps to hit the nose hard, don't think too much about the 180 varial the board usually does it on its own.
Variations, using the same technique:
-if you add a global backside 180° spin you can transform your trick in a nollie bigspin heelflip.
-if you pop harder and add a bit of scoop you can do nollie laser flips.
